From Zero to iHeart: What Emma Paige Klipstein's Podcast Deal Teaches Us About Starting Over

She named her show "Too Much." Turns out that was the whole point.

Emma Paige Klipstein launched her podcast in January 2025 with nothing but an idea and a willingness to bet on herself. Less than two years later, that idea has landed a deal with iHeartPodcasts, one of the biggest podcast networks in the business.

That's a fast climb. And it got me thinking about what actually happens between "starting from zero" and getting a yes from the giants.

Klipstein, 32, built her podcast called "Too Much" after leaving her previous gig as co-host of the "Unbothered" podcast. Walking away from something established to build something unproven? That's a familiar kind of leap. I know a thing or two about walking away from the "sure thing" to chase something that made more sense to me, even when nobody else understood why.

She didn't have a team. She didn't have a network. She had, in her own words, "something to say." In an iHeart press release, Klipstein put it this way: "I just knew I had something to say and was willing to bet on myself enough to build it. To go from wearing every hat because I had to, to having the largest podcast network behind the show feels like proof that sometimes starting over isn't actually starting from zero — it's starting with everything you learned the first time."

That line is worth sitting with. Starting over isn't starting from nothing. You're carrying everything you learned the first time around, whether that's a failed business, a career change, or a podcast nobody's heard of yet. Why do we treat a fresh start like a blank slate instead of a running start?

From "Too Much" to Exactly Enough

Here's where the story gets personal for Klipstein. She named the show "Too Much" because, as she wrote on Instagram back in early 2025, she'd spent her whole life hearing exactly that phrase. "I'm done apologizing for it," she wrote at the time.

Nearly two years later, she's saying it again, but with a twist. "For so much of my life, 'too much' was something I thought I needed to fix about myself," she said in the iHeart release. "This show turned it into the thing that built my career. The thing you're being told to make smaller might actually be the thing you're supposed to build bigger."

That's a question worth asking yourself: what's the thing people keep telling you to tone down? Is it actually the problem, or is it the thing you haven't figured out how to use yet?

Klipstein built her audience through solo episodes where she just talks, unfiltered, about life. She also brought in guests like Hilaria Baldwin and Gigi Paris for longer, deeper conversations. No gimmicks, no shortcuts. Just consistency and honesty, week after week, until someone bigger noticed.

The Deal Happened at an Event, Not in a Boardroom

Here's my favorite part of this whole story. Klipstein didn't land the iHeart deal through an agent or a months-long pitch process. She met someone from iHeart at an event and just... asked.

"I gave the strongest and quickest elevator pitch of my life, and within five minutes we decided to exchange numbers," Klipstein said in her latest episode, which premieres Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 3 a.m. ET. "And he said, 'Let's talk.'"

Five minutes. That's all it took to turn a chance encounter into a partnership with one of the largest podcast networks around. What happens if you just ask the question you're scared to ask? Sometimes nothing. Sometimes everything.

New episodes of "Too Much" will now release weekly on the iHeartRadio app, with video versions on YouTube and iHeart. The show that started as one woman's solo project now has a major network behind it.

Klipstein's story isn't about podcasting, not really. It's about what happens when you stop apologizing for who you are and start building something with it instead. Whether you're 32 and launching a podcast or 68 and launching a new chapter on the road, the lesson's the same: starting over isn't starting from zero. It's starting with everything you've already learned.

So what are you waiting for?
